Cops say Houma man shot friend trying to stop domestic violence

In Houma, Cops have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly beating up his girl friend and then shooting a male friend in the leg when the friend tried to intervene and stop the violence.

Lt. Dana Coleman of the Houma Police Department said the incident occurred last night when Henry Allridge got into a verbal confrontation with his girlfriend and the argument turned physical.

''During the altercation Mr. Allridge is being accused of punching the female in the face several times, choking her and biting her in the face,'' said Coleman.

When a man described as a friend of the assailant tried to break it up, Coleman says Allridge shot his friend in the leg.

''The man is in stable condition and the young woman is recovering from wounds to her neck,'' Coleman said.
Allridge also reportedly struggled with officers when they arrived to make the arrest.  The charges include second degree attempted murder and domestic battery by strangulation.
