Twin Peaks to bust out in Houma and Jefferson Parish

More pretty girls serving cold beer are on tap for the metro area.

Interest in so called 'breastaurants' does not appear to be sagging in southeast Louisiana.

But, the owner of the local Twin Peaks franchise has pushed his plans back a bit.

Kyle Brechtel says he'll start construction on a site in Houma within the next 45 days, converting the former Ryan's Steakhouse into that market's first Twin Peaks, with a planned opening by the end of January.

Two New Orleans area restaurants will follow...the first along the Veterans corridor and another to follow on the westbank, focusing on the expressway and Manhattan Blvd. area.

He says he's not shying away from the New Orleans competition provided by the likes of a Happy's Irish Pub or Hooters.

In fact, he's confident Twin Peaks will move to the forefront of the metro area 'man caves'.

"We're certainly seeing that in other areas that actually have much more direct competition and succeeding very well," Brechtel says.

He says Twin Peaks, while not covering up their pretty waitresses, concentrates more on the quality of food than the bounty of breasts.

"While the concept, certainly, is driven by pretty girls delivering quality food and cold beer...the food, I believe, is what lifts and separates us from some of the others."

Brechtel hopes the Metairie location will open in the second quarter of 2013, with the westbank location to follow in the fourth quarter of next year.

"We're confident that this brand is, certainly, 'best of breed' and that we'll do well."

Twin Peaks already has 14 locations in four states and plans call for five of them to eventually bust out in the New Orleans area.
