Astrologer: Saints not born under a lucky star, but will win Sunday

Throughout history heads of state have consulted astrologers to predict their fates and guide their decisions, so why not consult the stars on behalf of the winless Saints?

After a bounty scandal, suspensions of key coaches, a couple of players and even the general manager, plus an 0-4 start, can astrology explain what's going on with the New Orleans Saints this season?

The Saints were not born under a lucky star, according to an astrologer who took a look at the team's birth chart and if he's right, it'll be awhile before another Super Bowl win.

The team wasn't born under any strong planets, except for Jupiter, "Otherwise it's a chart that doesn't necessarily show longterm success," astrologer Frank Piechoski gingerly tries to break to me.

Piechoski is using the afternoon announcement of the Saints franchise on November 1, 1966 as the team's birth date and the Saints first-ever regular season game on September 17, 1967 at Tulane Stadium as the first major event of the team.

And Jupiter gave them a particularly fortunate period around the time they won the Super Bowl he says, but "That period ended in January of 2012."

The 2011 season was pretty good for the Saints, as they made it to the playoffs.  But on January 14, 2012 they lost to the 49ers,  after winning 13 games.  That's about the time Piechoski says the team's super fortunate astrological aspect due to Jupiter ran out.

The next time they'll see that same kind of luck will be about five years he predicts.  "The next time I see them going into a fortunate Jupiter period again will be in 2017, and 2022.  Now that doesn't mean they're not going to win any games until then, of course.  It just means that the opportunity exists for great preferment and great achievement in those years particularly.  Not to discount that other things can happen in those other years.  Those are two years in the future, in 2017 and 2022, where the Saints have the chance to excel."

Still he is predicting a win for the Saints this weekend.  He says the chart at least "points towards a New Orleans win."
