Arrest in Metairie hotel murder

Detectives have made an arrest in the murder of a LaPlace hurricane evacuee who had been living at a Metairie hotel.

Jefferson detectives say they got a DNA match from evidence gathered inside the La Quinta Inn on the I-10 service road.

Cops say they have now booked James Vandell Hutchison.

They say he strangled King Honore last week.  Investigators did not say what the motive may have been.

"After being advised of his rights, and questioned regarding the murder of King Honore,  Hutchinson told Detective Goff he visited the victim at the Laquinta Inn around the time frame the murder occurred, however, he denied having anything to do with Honore's death," JPSO Col. John Fortunato said in a news release.  "Hutchinson refused to answer any additional questions at that time, opting to consult with an attorney."
