Tide on top, LSU falls to #3 is SEC

Alabama is clearly the best team right now in the SEC.  But who is #2?  In this weeks rankings, I have pushed the Georgia Bulldogs ahead of the LSU Tigers.  It comes after LSU has shown flaws against lesser opponents.  Here are my rankings:

1. Alabama 5-0 (1)
This Week: Bye
Last Week: Beat Ole Miss 33-14
Alabama Quarterback AJ McCarron is tied for second in the SEC with 12 TD passes. McCarron has not been intercepted.

2. Georgia 5-0 (3)
This Week: at South Carolina
Last Week: Beat Tennessee 51-44
Georgia gets some bad news as they prepare for the Gamecocks. The Bulldogs leading receiver, Michael Bennett, is done for the season after tearing his ACL in practice on Tuesday.

3. LSU 5-0 (2)
This Week: Beating Towson 38-22
Last Week: at Florida
The Tigers haven't played well enough in the last two games to remain the second ranked team in the SEC. LSU's next five opponents are a combined 21-and-1.

4. South Carolina 5-0 (4)
This Week: Georgia
Last Week: Beat Kentucky 38-17
South Carolina will go after its third consecutive victory over Georgia on Saturday. The Gamecocks have never won three straight over the Bulldogs. The two teams have been playing each other since 1894.

5. Florida 4-0 (5)
This Week: LSU
Last Week: Bye
Since 1990, the Gators are 28-9 after a bye week and 8-2 at the Swamp after a bye.

6. Mississippi State 4-0 (6)
This Week: at Kentucky
Last Week: Bye
A big key to the Bulldogs 4-and-0 start is their plus-13 turnover margin.

7. Missouri 3-2 (8)
This Week: Vanderbilt
Last Week: Beat Central Florida 21-16
The Tigers have a good shot at their first SEC win as they host a struggling Commodores team at home.

8. Tennessee 3-2 (7)
This Week: Bye
Last Week: Lost to Georgia 51-44
The Vols need to use the open week to fix their defense. Tennessee is 13th in the SEC in total defense.

9. Texas A&M 3-1 (11)
This Week: at Ole Miss
Last Week: Beat Arkansas 58-10
Aggies Freshman QB Johnny Manziel leads the SEC in total offense, averaging 365 yards a game.

10. Ole Miss 3-2 (9)
This Week: Texas A&M
Last Week: Lost to Alabama 33-14
The Rebels are showing signs of improvement, but they need to take better care of the football. Ole Miss' 13 turnovers are the 2nd most in the SEC.

11. Auburn 1-3 (10)
This Week: Arkansas
Last Week: Bye
Auburn has a chance to get on a roll. Their upcoming games are against Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and New Mexico State.

12. Vanderbilt 1-3 (13)
This Week: at Missouri
Last Week: Bye
Vanderbilt's offense has yet to get on track, averaging 22 points a contest.

13. Kentucky 1-4 (14)
This Week: Mississippi State
Last Week: Lost to South Carolina 38-17
Injuries are mounting for the Wildcats. Starting quarterback Maxwell Smith is out indefinitely with an ankle injury and Kentucky has also lost last year's leading rusher CoShik Williams for this season.

14. Arkansas 1-4 (12)
This Week: Lost to Texas A&M 58-10
Last Week: at Auburn
The Razorbacks two losses in the SEC are by a combined score of 110-10.
