Survey: Women more dependent on their morning joe

A new survey from Career Builder and Dunkin' Donuts on coffee consumption shows a lot of us are very dependent on a cup of joe to get us going in the morning.

But who relies on it more, men or women?

The workers I talked to in the CBD were divided, some even saying that they didn't think there is any difference.  But according to the survey 47% of women claim they're less productive without coffee compared to 40% of men.

Most Americans need coffee to get through the workday according to the survey.

Downing all that coffee can be expensive, with the concoctions from the coffee house costing up to five bucks a pop, most locals tell me they have found ways around that.  "I like Folgers, the single cups that they have, it's like a tea bag, but it's not it's coffee. Then there's Community, PJ's, even Starbucks.  There's just so many choices in coffee now."

And what would happen if they don't get their morning pick-me-up?  This man says "I'd be really cranky and fussy and nobody would want to be around me.  And probably my job duties would falter a little bit without coffee."

According to the results, the professions with the highest proportions of workers stating they are less productive without coffee vary widely. Those who need coffee to get through the workday the most are:

   1.  Food Preparation/Service Workers
   2.  Scientists
   3.  Sales Representatives
   4.  Marketing/Public Relations Professionals
   5.  Nurses (Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
   6.  Editors/Writers/Media Workers
   7.  Business Executives
   8.  Teachers/Instructors (K-12)
   9.  Engineering Technicians/Support
  10. IT Managers/Network Administrators
