Fall travel deals are here

The time between Labor Day and Thanksgiving is traditionally a slower travel season, but for those who can get away, there are more than a few deals to be had.

Orbitz.com just did a new survey, and people seem to prefer fall travel over summer, but with the kids back in school and holiday travel just around the corner, it can be a difficult time to get away.

But when demand drops so do prices.

"For warm weather destinations you're best bets are really going to be Orlando," says Jeanenne Tornatore, Senior Editor of Orbitz.com, and  Aruba hotel rates she says are discounted 33%.  Hurricane prone areas are offering some of the best deals this time of year, especially Mexico and the Caribbean.

According to the Orbitz.com survey, 68% of consumers are planning to take a fall vacation, and the majority plan to use at least a week.  "So there are a lot of travelers with vacation days that they're still planning to use when the prices are cheap, before we get into the holiday season," says Tornatore.

One of the favorites this time of year for many is taking a trip to see the fall foliage.  "For folks who are looking to do that on a budget, consider heading out to the Rocky Mountains where you can see the beautiful aspens changing color," says Tornatore, as some of the ski resorts are over 50% off right now.

Cities are the top destination this fall according to the survey, with Las Vegas once again taking the top spot.
