Louisiana Tech wins salary contest for graduates

A new report on salaries after college shows Louisiana Tech ranks highest in the state among public and private universities.

After two years of work experience, PayScale.com found a Tech graduate with a bachelors degree will earn an average of $45,900 dollars per year. Tech Spokesman Dave Guerin said the ranking shows it's their commitment to working with private industry to find out what they're looking for.

''It provides us with that insight in order to design curriculum that really speaks to the needs of the companies working in those industries,'' said Guerin.

The report found LSU came in second at $44,000 per year, while Tulane was third in Louisiana at $43,800.  Guerin added

''It more than adequately prepares them for the workforce and to go out into the workforce and succeed,'' he explained.

The open line of communication with private industry and corporations to find out what they need is what Guerin said is making the difference.
