New Orleans prostitution sting nets 11 arrests



The New Orleans Police Department says a three-day prostitution sting in New Orleans East and Mid-City has resulted in the arrest of 11 people.

Police say the operation came about after residents and detectives noticed an increase in crime in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway and on Tulane Avenue between South Galvez Street to South Jeff Davis Parkway.

Detectives went undercover on Tulane Avenue September 19th, and arrested two suspected prostitutes.

On the 20th, they worked undercover on Chef Highway and arrested five suspected prostitutes. Four of those arrested are from Memphis, Tennessee. The fifth suspect is from Jackson, Mississippi.
Detectives went undercover again Monday on Tulane Avenue and Chef Highway, where they re-arrested two of the suspected prostitutes from the previous Thursday as well as four others.
