Mike Voisin of the Louisiana Oyster Task force says it looks like Isaac knocked out 20 to 30 percent of the remaining oyster crop.
"It is bad in Plaquemines and St. Bernard. Those guys are going to have to deal with it," said Voisin. "They've got a lot of debris on the bottom."
But future harvests may be better. Voisin says the oysters that are left are going through their best reproductive cycle since the BP oil spill.
"A great reproductive cycle," Voisin said. "It seems maybe to have coincided with the storm."
Voisin says he can't tell if the storm has any more than a coincidental relationship to the reproductive boom.
