AUDIO Broussard: ''Enjoy the show''

Now convicted former Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard left the federal courthouse today and walked away from the reporters and microphones set up outside.

As I followed him through the courtyard, he initially didn't seem to want to talk.

"My quoting days are over," he said.

"It's a beautiful day," he added in response to additional questions.

Finally he did respond when asked what message he had for the people he served for decades in Jefferson Parish.

To his supporters, friends and family he said, "I would as for your continued support and prayers."

He said that he also had a message for those who voted for him over the years.

"I asked for your forgiveness and understanding."

As for the people who did not vote for him or are angry at him...

"Sit back and enjoy the show," Broussard said.

Listen to Broussard:

I asked the convicted politician if he was indeed guilty.

"The record will speak for itself," he replied.

Broussard is set to be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison and $500,000 in fines on Feb. 25th for his convictions.

Before today's proceedings, Broussard said, "At 23-years-old I came into politics as a dragon slayer; at 63-years-old I am going out as a dragon."
