''In Jefferson Parish, you're looking at about 64,000 households, totaling $27 million and in Orleans Parish, over 57,000, totaling $19.2 million," said Williams.
Listen to DCFS spokesman Trey Williams:
Williams said there have been a few problems with SNAP cards that don't work, a problem he described that as small and isolated.
''They need to go back to that site and have the card fixed, if it is not, then they need to come to our local office and have it rectified,'' he said.
Williams added that residents who are already receiving food stamps should have had their added benefits put on their cards this past Friday and Saturday.
