Some Jefferson officials say they're ahead of where they expected to be, having collected more than 160,000 yards of storm debris. Some residents tell WWL First News that the debris didn't last long in their neighborhood.
"Probably the first week after," is how soon one man told us the storm debris was picked up in his neighborhood. "But I live in a small neighborhood."
Another resident says they got it out of her neighborhood pretty quick, too, but since then, she's added to the pile.
"I just had my tree cut up last night, so it's a huge pile of debris," she said.
Debris removal contractors and acting parish president Chris Cox will be on hand to answer the council's questions today. Parish President John Young is in Washington DC.
