Jeff Palermo's SEC Rankings

How do the football teams in the SEC stack up?  Here is my weekly ranking of the Southeastern Conference.  The tide are on top, with the Tigers and Bulldogs right behind 'Bama.

1. ALABAMA 2-0
This Week: at Arkansas
Last Week: Beat Western Kentucky 35-0
The Crimson Tide have won 20 straight SEC openers

2.LSU 2-0
This Week: Idaho
Last Week: Beat Washington 41-3
The Tigers are trying to become the first team in NCAA history to win 40 straight non-conference regular season games.

3. Georgia 2-0
This Week: Florida Atlantic
Last Week: Beat Missouri 41-20
Georgia Quarterback Aaron Murray threw for a school-record 35 touchdown passes last season, and already has six through two games this season.

4. South Carolina 2-0
This Week: UAB
Last Week: Beat East Carolina 48-10
Backup QB Dylan Thompson could get another start as Connor Shaw is still questionable with a bruised throwing shoulder.

5. Mississippi State 2-0
This Week: at Troy
Last Week: Beat Auburn 28-10
Don't look now the Bulldogs have won four in a row. State looks for their first 3-0 start since 1999.

6. Tennessee 2-0
This Week: Florida
Last Week: Beat Georgia State 51-13
The Vols have lost seven straight to the Gators

7. Florida 2-0
This Week: at Tennessee
Last Week: Beat Texas A-and-M 20-17
The Gators are last in the SEC in passing offense. Former Coach Steve Spurrier is probably chuckling.

8. Arkansas 1-1
This Week: Alabama
Last Week: Lost to ULM 34-31 in OT
Starting QB Tyler Wilson is questionable for Saturday with a concussion.

9. Missouri 1-1
This Week: Arizona State
Last Week: Lost to Georgia 41-20
If Missouri wants to be full fledged member of the SEC, losing to a Pac-12 team at home is not an option.

10. Ole Miss 2-0
This Week: Texas
Last Week: Beat UTEP 28-10
This is the seventh time these two schools have met, first time ever in Oxford.

11. Auburn 0-2
This Week: ULM
Last Week: Lost to Mississippi State 28-10
Auburn is 0-2 for the first time since 2003.

12. Vanderbilt 0-2
This Week: Presbyterian
Last Week: Lost to Northwestern 23-13
I betcha you didn't know that Presbyterian's nickname was the Blue Hose.

13. Texas A&M 0-1
This Week: at SMU
Last Week: Lost to Florida 20-17
If the Aggies truly want to be in the SEC, then they can't lose to a Conference USA team on the road.

14. Kentucky 1-1
This Week: Western Kentucky
Last Week: Beat Kent State 47-14
Quarterback Maxwell Smith is second in the SEC with 634 passing yards. He's also thrown six touchdowns.
