President Barack Obama visits New Orleans and the Isaac impacted region today. He delivers an address this evening in Laplace. GOP Nominee Mitt Romney visited the area last week.
Entergy says it started the day with less than 130,000 customers still without power. That's down from the more than 700,000 at the height of the outages. CLECO says it has reconnected all of its customers, with a few exceptions where damage to a house prevents them from turning on the electricity again.
Plaquemines Parish residents who had flooding in their neighborhoods can go home today for the first time on the Westbank... but they can't stay. Officials are escorting people in and out of communities like Myrtle Grove, Pointe a la Hache and Ironton.
Residents along the Pearl River are advised to be vigilant and ready to evacuate if the call comes today or tomorrow. Officials say the Pearl will crest tomorrow. Other rivers in St. Tammany, Washington and Tangipahoa are also very high.
I-10 is open all the way between New Orleans and Baton Rouge... with some exits still flooded. Crews are also sandbagging near the Louisiana / Mississippi line along the sides of the I-10 in an effort to keep the interstate from flooding if Pearl River waters head that way. All lanes remain open now.
