New Orleans mayor: Levees, pumps withstood Isaac

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu says he hopes the worst for the city is behind it a day after Isaac's winds and rain came through.

At a Thursday news conference, Landrieu said the city's levees and pumps have held up as Isaac stormed through, seven years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans.

A dusk-to-dawn curfew was issued for the city Wednesday and Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas says three people were arrested and three others were issued court summonses for curfew violations. Landrieu says the city will decide later Thursday whether to keep the curfew in place.

Serpas also said police have responded to 16 "looting events," 13 of which resulted in arrests.
