Landrieu: 75% of city without power

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is asking residents to "stay vigilant and hang tough" as Isaac continues to move ashore.

The storm is bringing flooding rains and hurricane-force winds to the city on the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall.

Landrieu says that 75% of the city is without power, and advised residents to be cautious using open flames inside homes.

The mayor said that there are downed trees across the city, and flooding in expected areas, such as the I-610/St. Bernard Avenue area.

According to Landrieu, all pumps are working, despite the power outages.

Mayor Landrieu also advised residents to call 3-1-1 to report non-emergency situations such as downed trees and power lines.

For lifesaving issues, call 9-1-1.
