The Powerball multi-state lottery jackpot is worth an estimated $320 million for tonight's drawing. That's the fourth-most-valuable jackpot in the lottery's history, according to Louisiana lottery officials.
The $320 million would be paid as an annuity spread over 30 years. Winners could also chose a one-time cash payout, which in this drawing totals $213 million. After taxes, a Louisiana winner would clear nearly $150 million.
"Ticket sales are going great," said Louisiana lottery spokeswoman Kimberly Chopin. She noted it's been a few years since a Louisianan won the grand prize.
"Our last Powerball jackpot winner in Louisiana was July 2010," she said.
