Movie filming at old Six Flags

We've received a lot of reports about lights at night at the old Six Flags site in New Orleans East, with people wondering just what could be going on at the abandoned amusement park.

It turns out there's a pretty big movie filming at the site that has been home to both Jazzland and Six Flags.

Aimee Quirk, the Mayor's Director of Economic Development says, "Twentieth Century Fox has been filming 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Sea of Monsters.'"

That's the latest in an adventure and fantasy series based on books aimed at kids.

"The site was very attractive to them," which she says was "the main reason they shot the film in New Orleans."  They've been shooting at Six Flags for about five weeks, and the movie is scheduled to be released in August 2013.

Quirk says city leaders won't have anything definitive about the future of the site for about another year, as the proposed redeveloper of Six Flags continues to conduct due diligence on an upscale outlet shopping center.
