Legendary Treme Brass Band leader and drummer 'Uncle Lionel' Batiste passed away Sunday morning. He was 81.

A longtime fixture in the New Orleans music scene, Batiste and his signature strutting style had made him one of the city’s most recognizable stars.

The iconic musician had fallen ill earlier this month.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
