Jindal won't comply with health care law

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal says he'll refuse to set up a health insurance exchange as required by President Obama's health care law.

Jindal, in a conference call with reporters Friday, said he won't implement what he calls "Obamacare" even though the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the law.

Actually, in an apparent slip of the tongue, Jindal referred to the legislation as "Obamney Care."

He said he has no plans to establish a federally mandated health care exchange in Louisiana and will ignore the legislation.

The law requires states to set up exchanges by January 2014 that will help people buy health insurance from a range of companies. Jindal says he's going to leave that task to the federal government.

The governor went on to say that he's working to elect republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to repeal the legislation.

"Elections have consequences," Jindal said. "Elections matter. This one matters a lot."

"Reality's going to dawn on people," said Jindal. "The American people did not want or approve of Obamacare back then (when it passed), and they certainly don't now."

He said that, because of the court ruling, "People are actually thinking about it, focused on it."

Jindal has been mentioned as a possible running mate for Romney.
