Officials at the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau are just beaming over the success of Mardi Gras! Communications Director Jennifer Day Sully says ''Over those 12 primary days of parading that roughly 1 million people locals and visitors alike  take to the streets to enjoy the parades,'' Sully said.

Sully says they will continue to add to their estimates as more numbers come in from restaurants and the like.

She says the hotel bookings stayed in the mid to upper 90 % range through the weekend with just a slight dip Monday and Tuesday.

''There were people everywhere, I met people from New Jersey, from Illinois, from California it was really a great, great season for us,'' she said.

The basic number they use for economic impact for Orleans Parish alone is over 300 million dollars.
