Since a later Lent means warmer weather, that's always better as far as seafood goes.
Supplies are a little tighter and prices a tad higher than they will be next month, says Harlan Pearce chairman of the Louisiana Seafood Marketing and Promotion Board.
And the crawfish?
"It looks like it was starting out to be a good season, it kind of calmed down with the bad weather. But I think as get into it, I think you'll see it level off pretty quickly now. It's going to take some warm weather. If we get some good weather crawfish should come around pretty good. Right now they're fairly high," Pearce says.
Oysters will be priced a little higher as the supply is down a little he says. "When we talk about oysters, oysters will be ok, but they won't be as plentiful as they normally are, and the prices should be a little higher than normal."
And while it's still early for shrimp, the fin fish he says is looking great right now.
