Parade weather - Saturday looks the worst

The parade forecast looks pretty good for five of the next six days.  The big problem appears to be Saturday.

WWL TV Meteorologist Laura Buchtel says the weather for tonight's processions is "looking great."

She says all the rain from overnight has moved on out.

"For tonight... we're going to roll just fine," Buchtel explained. "Should be a great night for parades."

She says there could be one or two leftover stray rain clouds.  "We could have a little area of showers here or there," Buchtel said.  However, she thinks that will be the exception.

As for the temperatures, "Not too cold, 60's."

Friday morning could be wet again, but Buchtel says it won't stick around.

"We're feeling good that the rain will be early in the day, and then looking better for parade time."

She describes Saturday, however, as "a mess."

"Saturday has a big low pressure system moving in, and it is going to be right on top of us," the meteorologist forecasts.  "That means rain, wind and maybe even some severe storms... We're talking about all day rain."

Buchtel says there is a chance it could move out in time for the Endymion parade to roll.

"It's going to be a wait and see."

Endymion is considering adjusting the start time or rolling Sunday night instead after Bacchus.

Buchtel says things should be great the rest of the Carnival celebration.

"Sunday 61 and mostly sunny."

"Monday partly cloudy and 64."

"Fat Tuesday, a 20 percent chance for a stray shower and a high of 72."
