I-10 has been re-opened heading out of LaPlace toward Baton Rouge. This morning's hours-long closure was the result of a deadly crash. Cops say the crash was caused by a wrong-way driver before dawn. "A driver was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10," according to Trooper Nick Manale. "He collided head-on with another vehicle." Manale says there was a fire after the crash. The driver going the wrong way died along with four people in the other vehicle. "We have five confirmed fatalities," the trooper told WWL First News. He says two more vehicles crashed as a result of the initial collision, but those drivers were not seriously hurt.
