Edwin Edwards ''feeling much better''

Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards has been released from the hospital according to his wife, after reportedly fighting a case of pneumonia.  After a rough weekend, that included time in intensive care,  the 84-year-old appears to be on the mend.

Trina Scott Edwards says her husband is now home and resting.

She says the former Governor was admitted this weekend with a case of pneumonia and she posted on Facebook, "Edwin woke up this morning feeling much better!"

Edwards says earlier today her husband started getting back to his familiar self.  "He's up and around, giving the doctor's a hard time, and cutting up with all the nurses!"

She thanked the hospital staff and her Facebook followers for "prayers and support"

Edwards served four terms as Louisiana's governor,  the only person to ever do that.

After his final term, he served more than eight years in federal prison.  He was convicted on charges including racketeering, for fixing the riverboat casino licensing process.

After he served six months of home detention in July of 2011, he married Trina Grimes Scott the same month.  She wrote Edwards after reading his biography and the started visiting him in prison.  Trina Edwards is the former governor's third wife.
