Sheriff pleads guilty

Former Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jiff Hingle entered a guilty plea today in New Orleans Federal Court.

Hingle admits he took tens of thousands of dollars in kickbacks from post-Katrina rebuilding contracts.

The former Sheriff resigned last month.

Hingle worked a plea bargain with prosecutors to confess his guilt.

He could face more than five years in federal prison.
