Shana Rose



Shana Rose is WWL's afternoon news anchor and an award winning reporter.
 
Shana's commitment to bringing residents stories that affect their daily lives, along with stories that provoke thoughtful political discussion have brought her 8 Louisiana Associated Press Awards and she was part of the team that earned 9 prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards for Excellence following Hurricane Katrina.  She's also broken national stories, including Mayor Nagin's 'chocolate city' comments following the storm which brought interviews from radio stations as far away as Ireland and network TV interviews.
 
With a diverse career that has included being morning show host at both Top 40 and country music radio stations in markets like San Antonio, Honolulu and Colorado Springs, Shana has a depth of broadcast experience.  She also has performed extensively as an emcee in front of live audiences, some as large as 50,000 at the Superdome, has been involved with numerous TV appearances, shows and telethons.
 
Katrina was not Shana's only brush with heart-wrenching disaster.  She was broadcasting less than a mile from the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building at the time of the Oklahoma City bombing.  She co-wrote a song about the the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil at the time and raised money for the American Red Cross, among many other charitable endeavors.
 
In addition to her work at the station, Shana has been involved in extensive historical renovations in uptown New Orleans.
