Geller: Hornets bench Kaman as trade talks continue

Well Hornets fans, here is the statement that General Manager Dell Demps released regarding center / forward Chris Kaman:

"We had a conversation with Chris and expressed that the Hornets are going to go in a different direction. We mutually decided for a number of reasons that we are not going to play Chris as we pursue a trade. Chris has been the ultimate professional during this process and we thank him for the way he has handled the situation."

Kaman was part of the package New Orleans received from the LA Clippers in the Chris Paul trade.  In 17 games this season for the Hornets he averaged 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

A big roadblock will be his $14 million dollar salary, though.  Thankfully, Kaman is just 29 years old and can score, defend and rebound.

Look for New Orleans to go after young players and draft picks back in return.  I've already heard that the Houston Rockets are interested, so we shall see how quickly something can get done. .

That is, assuming NBA Commissioner David Stern approves, of course.
