Kristian: Saints release Moore

The Saints will release wide receiver Lance Moore, and save almost $5 million in cap space in the process.

The addition of last year's rookie WR Kenny Stills make this move more palatable. Moore was a part of the Saints' 2009 Super Bowl run,  but last year his stats took a dive after he missed three games with a wrist injury. He notched 37 catches for  457 yards and only 2 TDs.

The bottom line is that today's NFL, if you're making a premium salary, you'd better have premium production, which Lance Moore simply did not. As such, it's not shocking to see the Saints release Moore. He is the last player that was still a holdover from the pre-Sean Payton era.

It's a harsh reality that the NFL hsa transformed into a young man's game, where teams are really just renting players as opposed to owning them. The young players fill a void at cheaper costs, and the superstar high-priced talent continue to be talented and high-priced.

Moore Baby Give Me Moore
I will miss you. I love the spirit you brought to the game. Always with a smile and in my opinion the best hands in the NFL. Yeah you had a low season last year but there was an injury and our offensive line was not where it needed to be. Brees didn't perform as well. Hang in there and keep smiling and I hope a really good team picks u up!!!!! Always keep your Who Dat outlook with you. God Bless!!!!

I am not surprised. I mentioned it as a strong possibility this morning. I believe it was a necessary move, and a wise move. God Bless all my fellow Saints fans.

Lance is very much appreciated, by us fans for his contributions, it just he probably on the downside of his career. I agree with the Saints call on this one. Who Dat

The 2.5 Million save on 2014 salary cap will be just the extra the Saints will need to sign Jimmy. You add that 2.5 to his Franchise tag. I believe Jimmy will sign at 60 million for 6 years. Who Dat..

Keep Graham
The window is closing on Brees, and we only have 2 or 3 years left to win it all. Not many #1's turn into All Pro's, and it takes time we don't have.

No Lance no Moore
Thank you for the your contributions to the greatest era in Saints history. You where a hellava player. More importantly, your a better person than player.

Rebuild the right way?
2 #1's for Graham, and what if they don't produce? You are out the best tight end in football, and he's just a pup.
