The Saints rolled to a 31-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.  The win puts the Saints (9-3) in sole possession of first place in the NFC South.  Plus, it gives them the season tiebreaker over the Panthers (8-4) whom they've beaten twice.

Former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert was surprised by the ease with which the Saints cruised to a win over a very good road team.

"You have to look at how Carolina was playing," Hebert said. "They were 5-1 (on the road).  Only the Patriots had a better road record this season . . . so they're a team who is used to closing hard in December, and obviously winning on the road.  The game shouldn't even have been as close as it was.  I thought the Saints were totally in control."

One of the big keys in this game was the Saints ability to run the football against on of the league's best run stopping units.  Running backs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara were electrifying all game long, and combined for three touchdowns on the day.

"When you compare what we did against a team that can stop the run it's unbelievable," Hebert said.  "Because you look in the first half (the Saints) had 110 yards rushing.  In the first game we ran for 149 yards . . . Here we are with the 3rd best rushing attack in the NFL.  Well, they had the 3rd best rushing defense.  Nobody has gashed Carolina's defense rushing the football (like the Saints)."

The Saints don't have much time to relish in this win.  They'll play in Atlanta next Thursday night with a chance to put a near lock on their first division title since 2013.
