Scoot: All men aren’t Harvey Weinstein

Allegations continue to establish the protocol for top Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein using his position of power to lure attractive, young actresses into sexual activity continue to flood the media.

The stories from actresses about Weinstein’s sexual predatory behavior are becoming more shocking by the day.  Patterns of behavior that are being revealed include Weinstein starting a meeting in his hotel room with a female staff member present to make a young actress feel comfortable and then dismissing her leaving Weinstein alone in the room with the young female.

Another common theme seems to be Weinstein asking the young actress to give him a massage or if could he massage them.  Weinstein also appears to have had a habit of asking young actresses to either watch him shower or watch him masturbate.

Credit goes to the many young actresses who refused to fall into Weinstein’s sexual trap.  Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd are among the most notable names who shared stories about how Harvey Weinstein tried to get them into sexual activity; and yet, they all refused to participate.

Weinstein was a friend to many prominent Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and former President Barak Obama.  He was a major donor to the Democrats.  It was hypocritical for Hillary Clinton and former President Obama to wait 5 days before saying anything critical about their friend, Harvey Weinstein.  Democrats have always stood up for women’s issues; and yet, Weinstein, like former President Bill Clinton, used their position of power to lure females into sexual situations.  That’s deplorable – but true.

There are not many ways to put Harvey Weinstein, Bill Clinton, Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly in the same group; but the use of power to have sex with women is one of the more disgraceful groups these four men – and many others – are now in together as comrades.

The number of willing participants – enablers – many of them women – who helped Harvey Weinstein achieve his sexual fantasies explains the depth of the scandal.  But apparently not everyone knew.  The board of The Weinstein Company, which recently fired Harvey, says they were shocked by the revelations; but there is also a lot of evidence that Weinstein’s sexual prowess was a well-know open secret in Hollywood.

It is unknown how much Weinstein’s wife knew about his disgusting behavior, but she has announced she is leaving him.  Hopefully, she will end up with a lot of his money, even though that is not fair justice for Weinstein.

I feel compelled to stand up for the many men, like myself, who are not like Harvey Weinstein, Bill Clinton, Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly.  There are many men who have never felt the need to use their position of power or their sense of male superiority to lure women into sexual situations.

There are those of us who do not define what it means to be a man by the number of sexual encounters we have had, and we also reject the notion that sex should be seen as a conquest of man.  But I know those men exist.

Sadly, men like the Harvey Weinsteins of the world look down on the men who are secure with their masculinity and do not feel the need to have masculinity defined by a superficial and casual act of sex with a women who is not an equal and willing participant.

In the same way that women do not want to be defined by the women who use their P-power to get what they want, there are a lot of men who are powerful, masculine and intelligent who do not want to be defined by the Weinsteins of the world.
