Johnson joined the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010, spending three seasons with the Bucs. He then spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions before returning to Tampa in 2015. After missing all of 2016 due to injury, Johnson resurfaced in Detroit earlier this season.
A 30-year-old New Jersey native, Johnson stands 6’4” and weighs 265 pounds. He played his college ball at Rutgers and has a career stat line of 40 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles and six sacks.
To make room on the roster, the Saints reportedly cut offensive tackle Bryce Harris.
