The Saints wrapped day 1 of mini camp today at the teams training facility, in front a fairly sparse representation from the Who Dat Nation.  In mini camp the team doesn't wear pads so from that perspective it's no different than an OTA practice.  The Saints did however practice longer today than they did in the OTA's. Starting with defensive tackle Nick Fairley, the Saints haven't received the results of the third opinion on Fairley's heart condition, but they expect to see those results soon.  Fairley has a heart condition that could be career threatening.  Payton said last week that one opinion suggest that he doesn't play football anymore, the second opinion differs from that opinion.

Keep and eye on Arthur Maulet:  Who? The undrafted rookie free agent out of Memphis. He's a local boy from right here in New Orleans. Maulet went to Bonnabel high school before playing for the Mephis Tigers. "He was a priority free agent for us" explains coach Sean Payton.  That means the Saints would have been willing to draft him if they had a 7th round pick and put the full court pressure on him in the free agency process after the draft.  "He's been making plays.  He broke up a couple of passes today and going back to the OTA's we've seen him always around the football in pass defense" said the Cajun Canonn Bobby Hebert.  Maulet was 3 for 3 today in 1 on 1 passing drills against the receivers.

Who's in who's out: Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe is sideline with a foot injury, but is ecpected to ready for training camp. Linebacker Manti Te'o took part in practice aside from the walk through.  For Te'o today was the most amount of work he's done this off-season still rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon suffered last season with the Chargers.  CB P.J Williams was also not at today's mini camp practice. As of now, I'm not aware of why he was absent. Sean Payton didn't address it after practice.

Kenny Vaccaro: Told me today his agent and the Saints are supposedly set to sit down and talk about a contract extension in the coming weeks, before training camp.  Vaccaro also said he's unwilling to have contract discussions during the season, just because he doesn't want it to be a distraction for him.
