Keep the streak alive!

With a win over the UT Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday night the LSU Tigers will tie the Miami Hurricanes for the 5th longest non-conference home streak in NCAA Football history.  LSU's current streak stands at 47 with the Canes
ahead at 48.  Harvard University still holds the all time record with 55 non-conference regular season wins with 55.  Harvard's streak was from 1890-1895.  LSU has three remaining non-confernce games this season with UT Chattanooga, Syracuse and Troy.  If LSU wins all three they would tie Yale and Wisconsin with 50 non-confernence wins.

LSU's Defense setting records under DA

Dave Arranda is making defense look as if he invented it!  Well coaching it any way.  Coach Dave Arranda's Tigers Defense has been more than just stout since he took over back in 2016.  The Tigers have allowed just 16 touchdowns in 13 games under Arranda.  LSU's 27-0 win over BYU marked the fifth time in the past 10 seasons that a defensive unit did not allow an opposing offense to cross mid-field. The last time a defense did not all an offense to cross mid-field was when Louisville did it to FIU back in 2013.

If you can't score you can't win!

More amazing notes on Dave Arranda's defense continues from last season.  The Tigers posted yet another salty defnensive effort and are still the nations's hardest defense to score TD's on.  LSU led the nation with just 16 offensive TD's allowed in 2016 and through 13 games coached the Tigers Defense has given up still only 16 TD's.  LSU led the nation allowing only 1.3 TD's per game in 2016.  And now that averages has been reduced to 1.2 TD's per game.

Nowhere to run to baby!

The minus -5 yards rushing that the cougars finished the game with last weekend mark the fewest rushing yards allowed by a Tigers defense in 35 years.  Way back in 1982 LSU held rival Ole Miss to a still school record of negative -50 yards on the ground! The LSU defense has not allowed a TD in eight straight quarters dating back to the bowl win over Louisville.  And the Tigers limited the BYU Cougars to just 97 yards of total offense.

Be'Be'wins = Blowout!

It ain't bragging if you can do it.  Coach Ed Orgeron has now coached 8 games in the role of Head Coach.  Last season the Tigers were 6-2 under Orgeron losing only to the SEC East Champ Florida and SEC Champion Alabama.  And when LSU wins under Orgeron Tigers fans breathe real easy!  With the 27-0 win last Saturday in the Superdome the Tigers improved to 7-2 under Coach O.  And all seven wins have come by double digits or more.  In the seven wins under Orgeron, the Tigers have outscored  their foes a combined 273-96.  When you put a #2 pencil to those numbers you come out with LSU averaging 39 points per game in seven wins and they allow 13 points per game in that span also.  That is an average margin of victory of 26 points per contest.

Thats not too shabby is it!
