It's not even officially winter yet -- the season begins in almost two weeks, December 21. But there are freeze warnings around the area for tonight.

"A hard freeze warning is in effect for areas north of the lake into Mississippi for temperatures dropping down into the mid-20s," said Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist Carl Arredondo. "On the Southshore, we have a light freeze warning that includes metropolitan New Orleans with the possibility of freezing temperatures."

There could also be some frozen road surfaces tonight, particularly on bridges and overpasses, and that includes south of the lake.
