After some areas socked in with morning fog, the sun returns today with highs in the mid 70s.

"Tonight will be mostly cloudy and not as cool with dense fog again," according to WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum. "Lows will be in the 60s."

Cloudy conditions come back for tomorrow.

"Friday will be another gloomy day with plenty of clouds and some lingering fog.  We will also have a chance for a few showers.  High temperatures will be very mild as they climb into the upper 70s."

The first half of the holiday weekend comes with rain.

"Saturday will be a cloudy day with scattered showers and thunderstorms as our next cold front moves into the region.  Some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds and some heavy rain.  Highs will be in the lower 70s.  Then a 2nd cold front will move through on Sunday (Christmas Eve) Morning."

Nussbaum says this front will clear out the rain and bring in much cooler temperatures.

"Sunday Morning will start out cloudy with a few showers, but we will have sunshine by the early afternoon.  High temperatures will likely occur in the morning around 60, but they will fall into the 50s by the afternoon.  Then it will be clear and cold on Sunday Night with frost likely on both sides of the lake.  Lows will be in the lower 30s north and upper 30s south - perfect weather for Santa!"

Christmas Day starts out cold in the 30s, and we will stay cool throughout the day with plenty of sun and cool highs in the 50s.
