Two men were in jail Sunday after Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies say they committed multiple armed carjackings in Metairie overnight and led authorities on a high-speed chase, before a wreck that left one woman in critical condition.

According to JPSO, the first incident happened just before 10 p.m. in the Lakeside Mall parking lot.

Officials said a man was with his wife and three children when two armed men told him to get out of the car. The man told deputies he was allowed to remove his kids from the vehicle before the armed men drove off with it.

Around 11:15 p.m., deputies responded to an attempted carjacking incident near the corner of North Turnbull and West Napoleon Avenue. The victim said two armed men approached him while he was stopped at the intersection. He sped away and called 911.

The third incident happened about a half-hour later. Officers said they were flagged down by two women in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3700 block of S. I-10 Service Road. The women said they were exiting their vehicle when two armed men carjacked them.

Shortly after, officers spotted the vehicle speeding nearby on the service road towards Clearview Parkway. The stolen SUV crashed into a car at the corner of North Woodlawn Avenue and I-10 Service Road, pinning the female driver inside. She had to be extracted by the fire department and was hospitalized in critical condition.

The two suspects were arrested as deputies said they tried to crawl out of the overturned SUV. The were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

At the time of their arrest, a 26-year-old identified himself as Derrick Jones. JPSO learned Sunday that was not true, and his correct name is Larry Washington of 1424 Magnolia Street in New Orleans.

Washington is in the process of being booked with the following charges: Two counts of Armed Robbery, Resisting Arrest by Flight and Failure to Identify himself correctly.  Washington has a prior criminal history with arrests for Simple Battery, Possession of Marijuana and Disturbing the Peace.

The second suspect, 17-year-old Brennan Allen, was booked with the following charges:  Two counts of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Resisting Arrest by Flight, Obstruction of Justice, Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Possession of Marijuana.

Allen's firearm charge was the result of deputies locating the handgun he used in the armed robberies. The Colt .357 magnum revolver was found underneath the overturned SUV. A record check of the weapon revealed it was stolen in Livingston Parish.

Allen is currently on probation for Simple Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property.  He has a prior criminal history as a juvenile with arrests for Simple Battery, Attempted Burglary, Domestic Abuse, Disturbing the Peace and Criminal Damage.
