Suspect arrested in Mardi Gras double shooting

New Orleans police have captured a suspect in a CBD double shooting on Mardi Gras.

Police said Kentrell Hudson was taken into custody Thursday night. He's charged with two counts of being a principal to attempted second-degree murder in connection with the gunshots near Union and Carondelet streets that injured two boys, ages 15 and 16.

One of the victims was left in critical condition after being hit in the head. The other victim suffered a leg wound during the incident that occurred about a block off the St. Charles Avenue parade route.

According to police, the shooting occurred during a fight that involved about 10 people. At least three suspects were being sought.

Hudson's arrest means police have captured suspects in the two shootings near the parade route that marred the city's Fat Tuesday celebrations.

29-year-old Maurice Williams was killed Uptown in the 2400 block of St. Charles.that day.

Police have jailed Eddie Dingle, 21, on a count of second-degree murder in that case. He has claimed he was defending his family during a fight when he pulled the trigger.
