LSU’s baseball team is honoring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise in a unique way.

The Tigers have named Scalise, an LSU alumnus, as an honorary coach while LSU competes in the College World Series.

LSU’s baseball team made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday, with a graphic that included the message, “ALL FOR SCALISE.”

Suspected shooter, James Hodgkinson, shot Scalise in the hip Wednesday morning during a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.  Four other people were wounded. Scalise entered the hospital in critical condition.

On Wednesday, LSU sent official team hats and T-shirts to Washington, D.C., for the annual Congressional Baseball Game that took place on Thursday night. The event raises money for various charities.

The Tigers take on Florida State at 8 p.m. ET Saturday in Omaha to begin the College World Series.
