Jason Aldean performs at Champions Square outside the Superdome in New Orleans tonight.  It's his first outdoor show since he played in Las Vegas the night a gunman opened fire, killing 58 people and wounding hundreds more.

On October first Jason Aldean was on stage playing, but had to run for his life in the middle of a song.

Champions Square General Manager Alan Freeman says they are working with the buildings overlooking the square to tighten security for tonight's show.

"We have had some conversations with the folks at Benson tower, which overlooks Champions Square," Freeman told WWL First News. "We also have had some conversations with the general manager at the Hyatt Regency about what they are doing."

He says management at both buildings have a good appreciation for the concerns.

The gunman in Vegas used a hotel room overlooking the festival to rain bullets down on the crowd.

Since then Freeman says, "We are and have been revisiting our security practices at Champions Square. I can tell fans that are coming to the show that we feel like we've got good security measures in place, and they should not be concerned."

He explained that security is their number one priority.  They are not alone in that.

"We're on top of it.  They only person who might be more on top of it than is Jason Aldean," according to Freeman. "Because this will be his first outdoor concert since Las Vegas."

Freeman says they have also worked with Aldean's security team.
