Have you early voted yet in Jefferson Parish?  Early voting began on Saturday.

Registrar of Voters Dennis Demarco says they had a good showing Saturday.  And the race for sheriff is what is fueling people to vote.

"Absolutely," Demarco said.  "The last time I looked at the statistics, statewide, I believe Jefferson Parish had the largest turnout of voters, as of Saturday, and I think it is solely the sheriff's race.  We did almost 2300 people voting in person."

That's at the 3 early voting spots in Jefferson Parish, Kenner, the Yenni Building, and one on the Westbank Expressway.

"Now that's in addition to the 44 hundred that have mailed in ballots," according to Demarco.  "What is surprising is that the voter turnout on the Westbank seems especially strong and that's kind of curious because the Westbank is only voting for sheriff."

You can early vote through Saturday 8:30 am to 6 pm.  for the March 24 election.
