Saturday is the last day to early vote for the November 18 election and the mayor's race in New Orleans continues to be the biggest calling card for voters.

Pollster and UNO professor Ed Chervenak will release a new poll on the mayor's race on Monday and without giving away any details on his poll, he did notice another survey recently that showed LaToya Cantrell with a double digit lead.

''Which is kind of surprising, considering all the negative media she's received over the credit card controversy,'' said Chervenak.

Chervenak expects both Desiree Charbonnet and Cantrell to campaign hard in the final days and spend all the money they have left.

''Charbonnet spent almost all the money she raised and only has about 100,000 dollars left in her war chest,'' Chervenak continued. ''That puts her at a disadvantage because LaToya Cantrell has about $300,000 dollars left for her to spend for this final week.''

He says the early voting numbers for the runoff have been about the same as the primary, which means turnout could end up about 32 percent.
