Should Louisiana school teachers start carrying concealed handguns to protect their students?  The debate continues in the legislature, where several bill have been filed in this current session.

Debbie Meaux, President of the Louisiana Association of Educators, doesn't like it one bit.

''We need to make sure that schools are not places that are seen where children watch adults carry guns on their hips,'' Meaux said.

She is also worried about a prison-like imagine.

"I think it would give our schools a less inviting atmosphere,  although I have to tell you our board of directors is not against security,'' said Meaux

That security could include beefing up the perimeters to schools and possibly adding metal detectors.

Those lawmakers who support arming teachers believe it could deter criminals and crazies from attacking school campuses.
