Very cold, and feeling even colder

Arctic air blew into Southeast Louisiana and temps fell below freezing in much of the region this morning.  In places where it wasn't freezing, it sure felt like it.

The National Weather Service says at 6:00am, it was 39 degrees at New Orleans Armstrong International Airport in Kenner.  The wind has been sustained over 20 miles per hour, with gusts higher than 30mph.  That meant a wind chill in the 20's.

Slidell started the day just above freezing, but feeling like 25 degrees.

It was freezing north of I-12 where places like Bogalusa fell to 32 with a wind chill of 28.

Today's highs across the region are not expected to get above 52 degrees.

The forecast calls for Thursday lows around 31 degrees north of I-12 and low 40's south of Lake Pontchartrain.

Then the warm up begins with 60's Thursday afternoon and 70's for the weekend highs Friday through Sunday.  Lows for those three days are forecast to be in the 60's.
