VIDEO: LSU - Bama hype leads to media attention and bets
Dave Cohen Reporting
The Tigers and the Tide square off in Tuscaloosa in 10 days... and even TV networks that are not carrying the game are promoting the battle between the top tow teams in college football.
The video below is from ESPN... and the game is on CBS.
All of the excitement surrounding the LSU - Alabama game has people putting down big bucks as the most popular game to bet on right now.
John "The Rain Man" Rainey says the early gamblers are giving Alabama the edge. Right now LSU is a four point underdog.
"The betters seem to think that LSU... will have a hard time in the big games," Rainey explained.
What makes them think that?
"All of the suspensions and different distractions."
He adds, however, that the people placing bets now are not the seasoned gamblers.
"The smart money is going to wait a little bit," he said. "I think you are going to see more money coming in on the Tigers, and that's why I think the ultimate line is going to be around a field goal."
Most handicappers give the home team three points right off the bat.
"Home field advantage for both these teams is large," Rainey insisted. "In this case I think it is the majority of the line."
Rainey also notes that Bama has a strong record at home against teams that beat them on the road the previous year.
