Tropical Storm Chantal expected to dissipate

The third tropical storm of the season remains on a brisk northwest track through the Carribean, with maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour.

However, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say they expect Chantal to gradually weaken and likely dissipate within the next 3 days.

Officials say they could not find a closed circualtion on the storm this morning on satellite imagery, but a Hurricane Hunter plane did find enough of a circulation to keep Chantal's status as a tropical storm.

Chantal is expected to bring wind and rain to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, and other Carribean nations over this week, but will likely soon be downgraded to a tropical depression or tropical wave.
