Tornado watch through tonight, severe weather possible

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch through 8:00 p.m. for all of Southeast Louisiana.

Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue to develop across the area today, and a few of the storms are expected to become severe.

Damaging winds and large hail are possible with these storms, following Sunday night storms that pounded much of the Metro area with hail.

WWL-TV Chief Meteorologist says in addition to the threat of more high winds and hail, we how have a chance of tornadoes in the mix.

"The main threat will be between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.," according to Arredando.  "We should be in the clear before midnight when all the rain should be out of here."
