Tommy: Cats being dumped on the CCC?

As you may have heard last week, a witness says two men in a pickup truck intentionally ran over a kitten on the Crescent City Connection. Liz Newman, a volunteer with Project Spay/Neuter, was on the bridge and watched the whole thing happen.

Now, Liz and the folks at the Louisiana Humane Society say someone may be dumping cats on the bridge! She, along with Jeff Dorson, the Executive Director of the Louisiana Humane Society, say that three more cats have been found on the bridge since last week. Two of the cats were killed, and one was recovered alive.

It strains credulity to think four cats wandered up there by themselves. Dorson says it's probably tied to litter season, when people sometimes unexpectedly have a lot of kittens on their hands. Besides the horror of someone running over an innocent kitten on a busy bridge, it also puts human lives in danger, because you know people (well, most people) will swerve to avoid animals in the road.

Liz and Jeff told me the original reward of $500 has increased to $1,100 for information about the two men who intentionally ran over a tabby kitten on the bridge last week. If you have information on this case, or any information about people dumping cats on the bridge, you can call 888-6-HUMANE, or contact the Louisiana State Police at LSP.org, or hit *LSP on your cell phone.

Tommy's Show after the Show:

In today's Show after the Show, I want to get your thoughts on "The Internship." TI thought it was a great, non-offensive movie you could watch with the family...but critics hate it! Also, it's a good snapshot of where we are as a society. I give it two thumbs up...How about you? Give me your comments below!

Tommy: Impassioned calls about the Mother's Day Shooting

The horror of 19 people being shot at a New Orleans 'Second Line' parade was something everyone wanted to talk about this morning.  Trying to make sense of the senseless violence we deal with on a near-daily basis is one thing, but trying to understand why one or more young gunmen would open fire into a crowd of men, women, and children defies comprehension.

I'd like to share a couple of calls we had this morning.  Kiron called in during the 8 o' clock hour...he was at the parade and described in harrowing detail what happened.

Tyrone called and spoke passionately about being a black man angry about the violence in his city.

Click HERE to listen to the call from Kiron, who was at the second line parade.  He told us about the harrowing ordeal...

We'll talk more about this topic Tuesday morning, by which time I sincerely hope the NOPD has captured the shooters.
