Teen charged with killing father and half sister on Northshore
Dave Cohen Reporting
Northshore cops say a teenager killed his father and two-year-old half sister.
"St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain announced today the arrest," Capt. George Bonnett said in a news release. "Jacob Middleton, Jr (1601 Haring Rd, Metairie, LA - DOB: 7/8/1996) was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail this morning on two counts of 1st degree murder."
He says the 17-year-old (above) told them he hated his father.
"During questioning by Sheriff's office investigators early this morning, Middleton admitted to shooting his father and his half-sister. He indicated that his actions were the result of, among other things, his hatred of his father for what he claimed was years of abuse and family violence."
The little girl's mother was the one who called cops.
"The Sheriff's office received a call yesterday morning from Middleton Sr's wife, who found the victims in their Covington area home," Bonnett said.
Middleton is being held without bond.
“I want to commend our investigators and all the deputies who worked throughout the night to resolve this case. We are sorry for the tragic loss this family is experiencing, but hope they feel some comfort and closure through this arrest,” Sheriff Jack Strain said.
“Any time a crime such as this occurs with such a young victim, it makes us want to hold onto our own children and remember the blessings of family. These crimes defy explanation or logic, but we will remember those who were lost in this senseless tragedy and pray for those they leave behind,” Strain said.
State officials told thousands of doctors planning to attend a medical conference in New Orleans this weekend to stay away if they've been in contact with Ebola patients in the last 21 days. Right or wrong move?
